Take The Kids To Work Day- a Taste of Green Hollywood

I recently lent my energy and image to a green fashion product campaign which has been designed to kill hunger for struggling families and starving children in the Los Angeles community.  It's extremely exciting for me to see companies making the decision to include green charity and philanthropy as a foundational component of their corporate mission and green lifestyle philosophy.   This new company is still hush hush, so I can't give too many details about the product itself, but I can describe how everything about their marketing agenda will center entirely around highlighting social and environmental issues.  The killer hook, of course, is that the way in which they are designing the advertising package is extremely high-fashion, edgy and Green Hollywood which I LOVE.

Our two business philosophies go hand-in-hand.  The charity that this company will initially be supporting focuses on feeding children stricken with poverty in LA.  The owner of the company happens to be my best friend, Jessica, and our two green kids happen to be best friends too! We both feel incredibly blessed to enjoy such a synergistic and supportive mom-to-mom connection like this. I've waited a lifetime to find someone as dynamic and multidimensional as her to understand and support the kinds of things that I do, and the fact that our children adore each other too - in fact they're the ones who brought us together in their kindergarten class - is the delicious icing on top! For the basis of her company, Jessica felt strongly that she wanted to offer support to her local community before she put effort into reaching out half-way around the world.  A commitment to both local and global causes is a critical component of being an intelligent and compassionate citizen, but I love starting locally, as well.

A key part of her marketing campaign is showcasing the beautiful children that her company will be helping. So, after she asked me if I'd like to be the lead spokesperson for the campaign and product line, she invited my daughter to participate as well. I was honestly thrilling for me to being her, and her brother, to the downtown Los Angeles studio loft where she was shooting the campaign. I had never brought my kids with me to an event or photo shoot on the entertainment industry side of business that I do. I find it all extremely exciting myself, which is why I do it of course, so it was such a pleasure to share my enthusiasm with them.

Now, being at a glamorous commercial photo shoot isn't exactly the most boring thing in the world, so my kids ending up having the time of their lives as well! Since Jessica was calling the shots, having them run around and make the studio theirs was not a problem at all. At the end of the day, Jessica discovered that one more vision she had for a product set up would be perfect for my daughter and I to do together. So, we were able to get dolled up by the make up team with curly hair and matching t-shirts having the words "Kill Hunger" written across the front.

This was her first experience in an environment like this, and she loved it.  I don't plan on making it a habit with her, but I was so glad to introduce her to a little bit of Mommy's other world, especially for such a great cause.  We both had a blast and sharing the day together is a memory that we will share forever!
